Getting diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 30 came as a wee bit of a shock. Where I saw a calamity, Dr. Abhay sir saw a challenging opportunity. "One year. That's all it's going to take to get you off your meds", he said confidently to me. He gave me a diet and an exercise routine along with the meds. Mind you, a routine and not a plan. I was a good 110 kgs at this point of time. Cut to a year later, and true to his words I was free of not only diabetes meds but also hypertension meds which I had been taking for well over four years. I was also a good 20 kgs lighter.
